What is Supervision?

Supervision is important to the growth and education of a LPC-Associate. For a minimum of 18 months LPC-associates are required by the Texas State Board to work under a board approved LPC-Supervisor while earning a minimum of 3000 hours of experience.

Why is finding the right supervisor important?

LPC supervision plays a pivotal role in this transformative process.
Supervisors serve as mentors, offering valuable insights, feedback, and support as you navigate the complexities of the counseling profession. They provide a safe environment for self-reflection, helping you deepen your understanding of theoretical frameworks, therapeutic techniques, and ethical considerations.

Choosing the right supervisor is paramount. It's more than just a professional relationship; it's a partnership built on trust, respect, and shared values. The right supervisor not only possesses the necessary qualifications and expertise but also aligns with your personal & professional aspirations. They empower you to flourish, encouraging autonomy while offering guidance every step of the way.

LPC supervision is a cornerstone of your journey towards becoming a competent and compassionate counselor. It's about more than just meeting requirements; it's about fostering growth, honing skills, and ultimately, making a positive impact on the lives of those you serve.

Why choose me as your supervisor?

I am a board approved LPC-Supervisor and I have been working in this field since 2014, working with a number of populations in a number of settings.

  • Private Practice-  I currently own and operate a virtual private practice based in Dallas, Texas. I work with adults and mostly BIPOC women with a specific niche in guiding women to building better relationships with themselves, with others, & w/ the world around them. I started my career journey in private practice working under my then supervisor who had her own private practice.
  • I've worked in the hospital setting both inpatient & outpatient, in community counseling,  in schools, in clinics with probationers & parolees, and in a substance abuse treatment facility.
  • I've had the opportunity to leverage my social media platforms that have afforded me opportunities to speak on a number of panels, hold workshops at Amazon conferences, and be published in a number of publications.

The totality of my experience, has equipped me with tools that I believe will help LPC-associates on their own path to discovering themselves as a therapist. Being a supervisor is extremely important work and my goal is to help LPC-associates meet their career goals as well as find comfort in showing up as their authentic selves in this field.
